Smart Polymer Composite Materials & Structures

A Research Experience for Undergraduates

Smart Polymer Composite Materials and Structures is a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. Faculty from the departments of chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science will mentor students. Students will participate in research projects, professional development, research facility tours, and have opportunities to present their research. We especially seek applications from women and groups traditionally historically underrepresented in STEM disciplines.

Requirements Benefits
U.S. citizen/permanent resident $7,000 stipend
Enrolled in an undergraduate program at a two- or four-year institution On-campus housing
Cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 Travel reimbursement and dining card
Desire to pursue a career in research and/or graduate school in your major Summer conference opportunities

Important Dates

  • March 1, 2024
    Application Deadline
    • Screening of applications will begin on March 1st and will continue until all spots are filled
    • Applications submitted on or before March 8th will be considered but subject to availability
  • May 27 - August 3, 2024
